A quick intro here: Joy, 31, wife of 4 years to Ben, 32, and mother of Lydia, who turns 2 months old today. (Good God, already?!!!) There is so much more to the story than that sort-of sentence, but the details are long and complicated, and the whole story is in another tab of this blog. :D (see above in the About Me tab)
And here is a recent picture of me, well, sort of recent. In honor of Lala's Two Month birthday, here is a picture from the first time we met. Note the glazed (i.e. drugged) look on my face, and Lala's WTF look. :D

Ok, so, 15 interesting facts about me.
1. I have a half brother and half sister who are the same age (both born in 1990) but are not related to each other.
2. When I was in middle school, I couldn't decide what career I wanted most, a teacher, an opera singer, or a rancher. (reading too many westerns at that time) I ended up doing none of those. :)
3. For those who didn't already know, Ben and I met through my friend, Amy, and his sister, Chrissy. They met in England while both studying abroad for a semester, and decided Ben and I would be perfect for each other because we both like books and chinese food.
4. I shared a bedroom with my little sister from my sophmore year of high school until I left for college.
5. When Ben and I first moved in together (year before we married), I would spend hours watching over his shoulder as he played World of Warcraft. The nights that his guild would do the big raids (instances?) were a family event for us. (Yes, we are that big of dorks, and no, I'm not explaining WoW if you aren't familiar. It is complicated.)
6. I love music, and I love to sing. I listen to just about anything, and I have favorites from just about every age and genre. Some of my favorite music is from WWII (Thank you, Andrews Sisters), but I also love good ol' southern rock, 80's stuff, and country music. Right now I mostly listen to contemporary Christian music and love it. :)
7. I have very short and stubby fingers, and short toes. What is funny is that my first and second toes (after the big piggy) curve toward each other on each foot. It blows me away seeing my toes on Lala's precious little feet.
8. I love arts and crafts stuff, even though I don't have time to do much. And I'm a dabbler. My current crafts are knitting, sewing, and scrapbooking, but I really don't have time to indulge in them like I want to. I also have other crafty hobbies. I paint (oil), and even took classes in college, but haven't picked up a brush in years. I've done pottery (poorly) and loved it, basket weaving, wreath making (recently from the handy and troublesome wild grapevine in my back yard), various needle crafts (cross stitch, embroidery), and more. Like I said, I'm a dabbler, a woman of many things and master of none. ;)
9. I have read the dictionary for fun (not cover to cover, just randomly).
10. I am a Harry Potter fan. Not one of the rabid ones who dress up and refer to themselves as Muggles, but still a fan. When the last book came out Ben and I had just finished a 10 hour trip to visit my parents. Of course I had to stop at Walmart to pick up the book at 12:30am, then I just had to read a chapter at 1:00am before going to bed. Of course I couldn't put the book down, and so I ended up going to bed at 0600 when I finished the book (saw my dad in passing as he was just getting up for the day :).
11. I sort of fell into nursing. It started because I had dropped out of college bored with my english degree. I saw an ad for CNA classes (nursing assistant) and decided to apply, thinking that at the very least I'd face my fear of nursing homes that I'd had since my grandmother had died in 1996. Lo and behold I loved the work and loved nursing.
12. I have donated my hair to Locks of Love twice since 2008.
13. I think I have an obsession with cloth diapers. :) They are so darn cute with all the fun covers and silly names. I mean, come on, Fuzzibuns? Applecheeks? Bumgenius? Adorable!! And Lala looks so cute in them. :)
14. My favorite colors are red and green, which is funny on two levels. A.) I have red hair and green eyes, and B.) my favorite holiday is Christmas. :D
15. I describe myself as short when I am really average at 5'5.5". It is all because the women in my family are tall, with the second shortest at 5'9". :( Then again, I am the only redhead. :D
